The Isle of Man based airline Manx2.com is to launch a month long series of summer flights in a bid to test the market for air links between the Isle of Man and North Wales.

The flights, between Ronaldsway (IOM) and Valley on Anglesey will run from August to September twice weekly (Monday and Friday).

Manx2.com already operates from Anglesey providing a twice daily flight to Cardiff via a contract funded by the Welsh Assembly Government.

An airline spokesperson in announcing the new link said:

"We are delighted to be able to offer passengers a unique opportunity to visit Anglesey by air. With such a beautiful destination only 50 miles across the Irish Sea, this summer season special is perfect for those who are keen to

experience all North Wales has to offer, whether it be for a weekend break or the chance to reconnect with friends and relatives."

Meanwhile the move has also been welcomed by politicians on Anglesey. The leader of the Isle of Anglesey County Council said:

"This is good news for the airport and so soon after Manx2 took over the route to Cardiff. It is a great opportunity for visitors from the Isle of Man to visit Anglesey over the summer and vice a versa. I hope the venture is one we can

build upon. Under the current difficult economic conditions we must make the most of every opportunity and this is one I very much welcome."

Manx2.com already has developed links between Mann and Ireland flying daily to Belfast (both City and International). Other services between Cork and Galway are also due to start next month.
