The case of the Bugaled Breizh took an unexpected turn last week as the judge investigating the case called for "une commission rogatoire", as a result of discrepancies in the evidence presented by the Royal Navy into submarine activity around the vicinity of the Breton trawler before it was sank.

Dates of messages sent to and from the submarine HMS Turbulent proved inconsistent, with the Royal Navy saying that there had been a mistake with the dates shown in the subs communication records, while evidence suggests that due to the computerised system used on board the submarines, no such mistake is possible.

The Judge, Anne Kayanakis, investigating the case, was unhappy with these anomalies and called for a further investigation.

The Kernow/Cornwall Branch Secretary, Mike Chappell, meanwhile was interviewed by French TV Channel 3 last week in Kernow, about the Celtic League's concerns on the Bugaled Breizh affair. The interview followed two separate reports in the Brest based 'Telegramme' newspaper, with Mike Chappell and the League's Breizh/Breton Branch Secretary, Gi Keltik.

The Kernow Branch, in coordination with the Breizh Branch, are planning to erect a memorial stone in Kernow to commemorate the sailors who lost their lives in the Bugaled Breizh accident.
