The European Court of Human Rights denying to members of the Russian minority in DŽIBUTI v. LATVIA the right to their own private schools teaching in their own language - and only denying this to members of this minority - is inconsistent with international law. The case is even a rejection of universal human rights since the ECHR uses the margin of appreciation doctrine to prefer 'European' minorities while refusing the same treatment to 'less deserving' Russian minorities. It is clear under universal UN human rights obligations that all minorities can have their own private schools where their language is medium of instruction. This should be appealed.
